Orange Moon

Have you every seen an orange moon? I saw one a few weeks ago. We were at this campsite where there were no other lights "polluting" the sky. We just went to an open space and there was this bright orangey moon. The stars were magical too. I spotted the Southern Cross. Real proud of me self. Haa.

All of a sudden the other day, I just remembered about this blog. And the fact that it has not been updated for months. Just recently, my contract got extended for two more years. The problem is my visa expires next year June.

I need sleep.

Good night.

So..

I was planning to go back in March with Jetstar - this was before Air Asia came out here. However, I couldn't get a work visa under the Graduate Job Search as I could only apply under that section once. I wasn't too worried at first. Then the second quake happen and I could postpone my flight to later in the year. Then the timing changed and I could get a refund. Which was awesome.

I just read my previous posts and do wonder at how my goal changes. I do know my deadlines will change. The reason why I try to say "tentatively". In November, I got offered a part time administrator job in church. I accepted the job. I really enjoyed working in church and as I was a part timer - my time was quite flexible.

I was offered a full time job in April as a Children's and Family Ministry Administrator in church and I accepted too. I prayed and prayed about it and I think this is where God wants me to be currently. I am in the process of applying for a work visa as my current visa will expire in August.

One big adventure that happened for me this year was the Abel Tasman kayaking trip! The trip, the view, the company, the experience. The 6 of us went away for 4 day 3 nights of kayaking and camping. The February earthquake happened on our 3rd day away. I actually felt for Christchurch. It felt really surreal coming back after the trip.

The sunrise on our last day - that was so cool! I really felt really very sleepy too :)

The five of us sitting on a log on our first beach.

It was so cool that we got to camp right at the beach front. I have never gone on a real camping trip before - setting up tents, sleeping in a sleeping bag, cooking on a portable stove thingy, planning.

I went on a "camp" before. But we had other people looking after us then and I can't remember much of what happened. But that trip was really awesome possum! Yup, we met a possum on our last night :D

Beads and Mamma Mia

Jas and I are going to the Art Centre tomorrow to make beads :) Meeting with Gen and maybe Annedore. Going to be fun. Since I'm not flowing in creative juices at the moment I thought I would go to

to get myself going. I'm in love with the butterfly earrings =) Apparently my mother have engaged Wai Yee's service as well. Cool. Heh.

I know Wai Yee from church and I thought I would promote her business but most of my readers are not in Malaysia I'm assuming. But they do go back for the summer. Hehe.

Just realised I'm going to be busy when I'm back.

I'm meeting up with a number of friends:
  • Ally
  • Sam - ?
  • Yan Ling
  • Liyana
  • Charlene - ?
  • Archana - ?
I've got a few events to attend:
I think thats all. Going to be pretty busy with just 8 weeks.

Bloggers and what nots

I’ve just been stalking reading the blogs of people from my church back in Malaysia. Its been such a long time since I’ve done it. Normally I do it when I’m really free or wanting to procrastinate. Its been really nice reading the blogs and finding out what’s happening back home.

There’s a few relationship that I want to ask about though and my brother unfortunately is not at home at the mo. I think. Or he’s just ignoring my messages.

I also found a couple of NZ's church friends' blogs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’ve been thinking about baptism lately. I searched for baptism in my blog and found out that Becky did actually asked me about being baptised. Kinda funny that none of us remembered.

So.. when Pastor Jack told me about being in the committee, he said I had get baptise as soon as possible. I know I have been saying I am ready for the past two years and now I’m going to take a step forward. I’ve talked to mum about this and she said she was going to talk to Uncle Seng Kooi. I feel scared and yet excited at the same time. Not too sure what’s the outcome as mum haven’t come back to me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went for Talent Night last night dragging along Mer, Cal, Char and Tom. I think some of it was torture for them and I feel bad. I guess the performances was all right. But if you don’t know the people performing I guess it would be kinda boring for them. Especially for the ‘kwai lohs’ as there were quite a number of Malay songs. Overall, it was all right I guess. It started 45 minutes later too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just haven’t had the mood to blog this past few weeks. Don’t really have the mood or topic to write about as well. Its amazing how some people can write so much. I’ve also reduce my weekly emails to monthly emails. I’ve got lots to do this weeks of holidays. I have done some but only a few. All today.

  • Wash kitchen utensils, re-arrange kitchen
  • Wash bedsheet, duvet covers, pillow covers and put new sheets and covers
  • Clean/Tidy room
  • Clean/Tidy study table
  • File notes
  • Income tax
  • Meeting minutes
  • ICF email
  • Wash bathroom
  • 332 case study

In no particular order. Today I woke up early again (maybe I’m getting old), finish reading “The Sacrifice by Beverly Lewis” and showered. Ate lunch and went online until now. That’s almost 5 hours? My laptop is getting pretty hot. Might wash and put new sheets after this.

I better sign off now. Cheerios and take caaaare!

p.s. It has been raining for the past few days. Kinda nice.

4 weeks.

Only 4 weeks more till I get to go back home. I seriously can't wait. Can't wait to try driving Myvi. Can't wait to chill out.

However, I may get a job when I go back. Might. Still have to hand in CV and go for interview. Haven't done either before. It will be an experience. Scary though it seems.

Btw, Jas, if you have seen my previous post, it actually states when does the series actually comes out in US. It will normally come out here a day later. So since you didn't take the previous hint, I'm spelling it out for you. Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice usually comes out on Fridays.

Thats all I have for now.

Friends

I've been re-watching Friends. I blame it on this guy. He asked me to download (i get to download it for free) and burn it for him to watch. Since I've got nothing else to watch, I also start watching loh.

I'm quite rajin today. And during the weekend. I finally filed all of my notes. I cleared my table. And my floor. And today I did a bit of work on two of my subjects. Not much. But it is a start. I also washed my bedsheets and clothes today.
I read my tutorial questions before going for tutorial.I haven't eaten since 7pm. I am quite proud of myself. I've got a test and two assignments due on the same week and two more assignments due on the week after that. I just can't wait. (Do listen to the sacarstic voice.)

Imagine that's a girl.

I am going on a diet. Before I go back to M and my father's wife kills me. I managed quite well today. I climbed the stairs instead of taking the lift. I am trying to eat before 7pm. I'm feeling a bit hungry now but I am trying to tahan. Hopefully it jadis.

This week is going to be a busy week for me. On Wednesday, I have a meeting at 7pm for one of my assignments mentioned earlier. I have another meeting on Thursday morning at 10am for another of my assignment. On Friday, ICF has a dinner + games night. On Saturday, P&W practice has been changed to 2pm and I would most probably would not be able to attend as I most probably would have to finish my assignment with my group mates. Then there's YAG at night.

I will be at church almost the whole day this Sunday as well. There is this piano + keyboard workshop going on at 3.15pm and I'm going. Before that I will have normal church at 1pm. After that there is the Mosaic meeting. Mosaic is this English group/service that my church is having. And I volunteered. That starts at 5pm and usually ends around 7.30pm.

sounds like me =)
loh - an expression
rajin - hardwokring
tahan - stand
jadis - works
tulan - its hokkien. i'm not too sure of the meaning but i think it means lazier than lazy? but it is suppose to be a funny picture.

Seriously!

I really do want to blog.

Seriously.

But my stupid internet is sooooooo slow and I can't upload any pictures. It is getting on my nerve. I suppose I could use uni's computer but I am too lazy. If I am rajin I might use uni's internet instead of my broadband.

Anywayz, these are a couple of things that I noticed:
  1. Kiwis are lazier than I am. They say Yum instead of Yummy.
  2. It is getting colder.
  3. I haven't done anything else besides watching ER and numb3rs and reading since my exam.
  4. My room was untidy. Now it is half untidy and half not.
  5. I found out that quite a few of YAG people has blogs. Sadly it is all in Chinese. Hopefully, they will never find mine.
  6. On dancing - "If one was going to spend so much time moving about, one might as well be doing something useful, like mending a fence or fixing a roof. - Benjamin Rowland, Earl of Winchfield from The Incomparable Cassandra" I thought that was such a true statement although it might not apply to Now time. I also thought 'moving about' was funny!
  7. It is hard to organize an event for ICF.
  8. I might be getting a sore throat soon.
That should be enough information for now without any pictures. Your eyes must be hurting, yes? No?

God bless! :)

Living healthily

Jas was complaining that my food wasn't very healthy. So now I am quite obsessed on whether is the food healthy or not. :D I guessed that that is healthy enough? You have fish - good for brain, chips - good to have some fat stored up for winter, vegetables - its steam so its even healthier, pancake with maple syrup - jas doesn't eat that so it doesn't have to be healthy =D lol. I was trying to get a good shot but I can't decide which is the best shot. So I uploaded all the pictures so that you can see.
On Friday night, the five of us went out to try this Italian restaurant on Oxford Terrace. Portofino Italian Restaurant. Sedap tau. There was Liyana, Me, Jasmine, Wei Zheng and Shah (the one who took the picture). We ordered about 5 dishes I think. There was the steak (in front) and the risotto (back) which was yum. There was also the seafood pasta and the vegetarian pizza ordered by Li and Shah. Can you see everything? There's also this entree dish called something. But has lots of potato and cheese which was very good :) I'm going to try make it during the holidays (which starts tomorrow). There was desert. Cheesecake (front). Tiramisu (back).

That dinner was good. But it burned a deeeep hole in my pocket. I was satisfied though.

I can't wait for my exam to be over.
Then I'll get to watch ER peacefully =)
I'll get to experiment too =)

Btw, can you see what's wrong with my glasses?

happy =)

I have been very lazy. Its my study break but I am so not studying. Which is not abnormal. Its pretty normal. I have been watching ER. Not because of George Clooney (which everybody claims) but because I was starting to watch it on Hallmark Channel in M. So I just want to continue.

what an ugly smile!
i shall have to teach her how to smile properly when i go back

I woke up at 6.42am because of Os phone call. I woke up to an empty bed. Imagine my surprise. I didn't know about Liyana coming back yet. Obviously I didn't knew about my snoring. I thought everybody was at the toilet. On the way to the toilet, I went to look in my room. Jas was there in my sleeping bag. Ask her why, she replied she can't sleep. Ask her where's Li, haven't come back. Continued my journey to the toilet. Came back and found Jas in her room.

She told me why she couldn't sleep. Because I was SNORING. I've never heard that before. But I guess it was because I was sooooo tired. That was funny I though.

I've actually got a lot to say but I can't remember. I've set up my 300 GB hard drive :) Would take a picture but I'm too lazy. I'm already using 30 GB of my hard drive. =))

Oh why I'm happy? I just heard about a close friend of mine who accepted Christ and I'm happy for her. God really answers prayers by the way.

Cheerios!
up in the tree house
at Jen's place

notice the shit hanging out of the butt?
disgusting aye?

sheeps are kind of cute..
but dirty

little stephy and me =)
Yorkshire dogs are cute. And small. And berbulu. And doesn't really drop lots of hair.

Pirates - among other things

The thing that I really wanted to talk about was that I went to watch Pirates of the Carribean 3 yesterday after test with Jas, Ailers and Daniel. The show was ok.

Today after classes (which finished at 5) I went to Ancestral with Jas, Anu and Liyana =)) I introduced Anu and Li a new drink called (Li, take note!) Mango Pudding Milk [something like that ler] with J.R. [which is basically nata de coco]. This drink was introduced to me by Yani whom I must say deserve a big thank you.
I actually had appointment with Lily at 6.30pm so I had to kind of ask Lily to pick me up from Ancestral. Felt a bit bad. But the dinner at Cafe Emmanuel was good. It was supposedly suppose to be a dinner with my group members from YAG. But only 5 of us were there and one of them was late. I met lots of people though. And the food at the cafe was yummy. Cafe Emmanuel is a 'project' by Christchurch Chinese Church. Really cool.

Btw, during our Ancestral trip, Anu claimed that Liyana is a trademe whore but she rebutted that claim and said I am one and she was one. Well, I do agree =] wakakka..

Trademe is addictive. Jas and I are thinking of getting a car but we're pretty sure that her mum won't let her. My dad is allowing me but not my mum. But I'm pretty sure I can 'twist' my mum's mind =) wakakak..

cooking

do you know that, everytime when i tell my friend back home that i'm cooking now, guess what their first response is?

'When you come back, cook for me ya.'
you can really 'see/feel/you know what i mean' their smug face

*milok*

My 'oh tau eu bak' was quit
e successful. It smelled like mum's. But the pork tasted weird. My mum said it might be spoiled but I haven't had any serious toiletting yet. I think its the pig's fault. Its born in NZ not M.

'oh tau eu bak'
black soya sauce pork
I cooked it with mushrooms =))

My room was (and still is) very untidy this whole week.
Cause of tests mah. I was suppose to tidy it up this afternoon but after lunch (I cooked for Merilyn. We had scrambled eggs w mushrooms + onions + capsicum, chinese pancake, dumplings and bacon. I know very breakfasty food. Nothing wrong with that right?), Liyana, Jas and I went out for cake :)

Liyana was dreaming about the Starbucks chocolate cake in the city. That was our original plan but we ended up at Riccarton Mall (a nearby mall) cause the wait for the bus was too long and Li was hungry. We went to Coffee Culture recommended by Anu.

We had two cakes =))

Chocolate Mud Cake :

and

Butterscotch Cheesecake:.

I personally like the Cheesecake more. Jas and I had hot chocolate too

while Li had English Breakfast tea (sorry tak de picture). Li said I was so lucky to have a friend who does not like marshmallows =) I totally agree!

Jas Li Em

However, after eating the cakes, I still tak puas. My craving for cakes is still there. I'm waiting to eat more..I just need places to eat them. Recommendations?

Dictionary
M - Malaysia
tak de - no
puas - satisfy

fish + chips - yum yum!

a few posts ago i was saying how much i love the cold weather. on the next day, the weather turned colder. that was a Tuesday i think. on wednesday, it was even colder! the rain was spitting and the wind. oh so cold! i think that was probably why i got sick. plus lack of sleep.

This week has been pretty busy. I just joined something called TEAMtime. Training in Evangelism and Ministry. It consists of two parts. Biblical Theology and Training Strands. Its on every Tuesdays from 4-6pm. We even have homework. I would never have thought that I would have done something like that.
this is the book that we're doing for the second part.
it should be participant's manual instead of leader's manual.

On last Wednesday there was a cooking lesson taught by one of the RAs (Residential Assistant). I learnt how to make cheesy potatoes. But I don't quite like to eat so much potatoes so I don't think I will be making that in the ear future. This was the day that was the coldest of all weeks. Brr..
Jas and My hot chocolate
+ my water bottle
only $ 2 something. cute alnot?

On Thursday, there's ICF! =) Sadly though, very few new people came. But I had an interesting discussion with Yani and Genevieve. We went to Foo San after that. Great Dim Sum! Sorry no pictures. There were 7 of us. Three of us (including me) stays in Ilam. We walked back together after dinner.

On Friday was FISH + CHIPS. What Yin wanted to eat a few weeks ago. We went to Sumner beach. We left Uni at about 5.30pm and reached at 6 something. 11 of us went. Jennifer wanted to go but she had a meeting with her surpervisor and she was late and missed the bus :( sadly..
this was us in the bus:
left to right (front to back):
audrey, yani, jacqueline, genevieve, wei wen, wei zheng, jonathan, mark, daniel, jasmine
i was the photographer. it was hard to fit everybody in the picture.

jas took this pic! not my fault my eyes was close.
:P
the sunset
well actually the sun sets on the other side of the hill but its still beautiful right! =D

just found out that the pictures could actually be in a large size. doink of me! oh well. at least i learnt something.

Today, the saturday, Anu, Liyana, Jas and I went to the culture galore held at Ray Blank Park at Maidstone Road. It was quite interesting. One of the Malaysia society here did a dance and a dikir barat. I found the dikir barat hilarious because it was in English. It sounded plain weird. N funny as. I'll try uploading the video here. If i can manage it.

Sunday. Going to church with Wei Wen, Wei Zheng and Jonathan. The mandarin one I mean. Then Merilyn is coming over. Wei Zheng met Wei Wen at the airport. Wei Zheng and Jonathan are cousins. Wei Wen and Jonathan are both coming to ICF. Wei Zheng unfortunately can't make it because he has a lab which can't be changed.

I have an assignment due next week and the week after next as well as a test on the week after next.

Bless you! =)
